Estelí, Nicaragua

During our medical mission to Esteli, Nicaragua, which took place Aug. 4th to 14th 2011, IMAHelps volunteers provided medical care to 12,277 patients. These included 817 patients for internal medicine; 1,073 children for pediatric consultations; 523 OBGYN patients; and 351 cardiology consultations. Our volunteer surgeons performed 114 major surgeries; 35 minor surgeries; 21 orthopedic surgeries; and 14 gynecological surgeries. Our dental team treated 1,115 patients, while our pharmacy provided 6,190 prescriptions. Meanwhile, our prosthetics and physical therapy team saw 65 prosthetics patients, 10 of whom were fitted with prosthetic limbs. Nine patients also received physical therapy.
